Mold on the walls and around windows can be a real nightmare, particularly during the autumn and winter months. One woman, an author on a popular channel, discovered what had caused it in her own home. It boiled down to a seemingly insignificant mistake.

Grayish-black spots near windows are more than just an eyesore; they're also a warning sign. This discoloration may mean that mold, which can be very dangerous, especially for people with allergies, has taken residence in our home.

This usually happens when rooms are not ventilated regularly - a common occurrence in the fall and winter, when the radiators are in use. Even a slight mistake, as the author of a popular TikTok channel discovered, can turn a room into a mold haven.

The critical mistake

@2minspeace, a user and author on TikTok, shared a video from her home. She showed spots of mold accumulating around her window; an unattractive sight that looked quite hazardous. The reason behind their formation was surprisingly simple.

After diligent investigation, the woman identified what had led to this unfortunate situation. She admitted to having made a significant mistake: placing a clothes rack in front of the window. By doing so, she interrupted the airflow, thereby creating the perfect condition for mold growth.

"I made a rather silly mistake by putting a clothes rack in front of the window, preventing air circulation," she explained.

Combating mold with home remedies

So, how do you get rid of mold? Interestingly, tea tree oil can help, especially in the earlier stage of mold development. Just mix a teaspoon of the oil with water, and then apply the solution to areas showing mold growth. Allow it to dry, then gently wash off residues with warm water and mild soap.

Baking soda is another effective tool against mold. Add a tablespoon of baking soda to a spray bottle filled with water. Shake well to mix the components and spray the solution on the mold. Use a brush to scrub the area, rinse with water, and then reapply the baking soda solution.
