Oman, often dubbed as the 'pearl of the Middle East', retains its allure as an unconventional and intriguing travel spot. This nation often comes up in the travel packages offered by various agencies, and the number of tourists choosing it as their destination is on the rise. There are even a few who decide to establish their residence there.
Oman revises visa regulations
Those considering relocating and working in this country may want to take note of the changes put into effect by the local government. On Tuesday, October 31, the Royal Oman Police announced significant amendments to the rules regarding visa issuance.
As disclosed in the official announcement, Oman is prohibiting the transfer of all categories of tourist and visit visas into work visas. This alteration impacts citizens of every nationality.
Finding work in Oman used to be simpler
"Upon revisiting the policies for procuring certain visa categories, the Royal Oman Police declares the suspension of all conversions of tourist and visit visas into work visas, which applies to all foreign nationals arriving in the Sultanate of Oman. This also covers the suspension of issuance of all new visa categories to citizens of Bangladesh starting from Tuesday, October 31, 2023, until further notice," explains the announcement posted on X.
Among other objectives, these changes could be aimed at curtailing the surge in immigration and establishing clearer guidelines for migrants seeking job opportunities in Oman. Previously, an individual could obtain a work visa based on a tourist visa they had previously been issued.
