Olympic scandal: Nyjah Huston's medal looks decades old

Are Olympic medals of very low quality? Skateboarder Nyjah Huston showed his bronze medal over a week after he won it. The medallion looks as if someone destroyed it.

Nyjah Huston is an accomplished American skateboarder who has repeatedly won world skateboarding championships and other prestigious international competitions. Until now, Huston had not previously won an Olympic Games medal.

The esteemed skateboarder won a bronze medal during the competition in Paris. His joy at taking third place was overshadowed by the quality of the medallion he received, which he posted on Instagram.

The medal that Nyjah Huston received on Monday (07/29) looks like it has been sitting in a closet for several years. The athlete is very disgusted at how his hard-earned trophy now looks.

So these Olympic medals look great when they’re brand new. But after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat for a little bit and letting my friends wear it over the weekend... They are apparently not as high quality as you would think. I don’t know, Olympic medals, we gotta step up the quality a little bit. The medal [is] looking like it went to war and back. - the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games said bluntly.

Internet users mock the Olympic medallion

the American's complaints are justified by the look of his medallion. It must be admitted that the scratched medal with a peeling coating really does not look impressive.

Commenters are laughing under the post of the American skateboarder, saying that his medallion looks "like he won it in 1982 in Barcelona."

It should be added that Nyjah Huston participated in the street skating competition, which Japan's Yuto Horigome won. Second place was taken by another representative of our country, Jagger Eaton.
