Olympic organizers accused of homophobia with Grindr block

The upcoming Olympic Games in Paris are attracting the attention of millions of people. Sports fans are gearing up to cheer for their country's representatives, and local restaurant owners are counting on the incoming profits. However, it turns out that not everyone will have a pleasant time in Paris.

The sexuality of athletes at the Olympic Games has always sparked controversy. The actions of the Olympic Games organizers are twofold: on the one hand, they provide condoms, but on the other, they build cardboard beds designed to collapse if overloaded. At the Olympic Village, representatives from 206 countries will receive about 200,000 male condoms and 20,000 female condoms. Despite this, the Olympic Games organizers are doing everything possible to limit casual encounters.

Olympic games not for gays?

Portal X user Louis Pisano is sounding the alarm. According to him, the Olympic Games organizers are making it difficult for gays to have romances. There is irrefutable evidence for this. The Grindr app, which is the gay version of Tinder, has been blocked in the Olympic Village area. Louis tested this by trying to check profiles in the given location. It turned out to be impossible, which he believes is evidence of Grindr being blocked in that location.

This isn’t the first time the Olympic Games organizers have blocked Grindr. A similar event occurred during the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. While many people scoff at the blockade, some understand the committee’s decision and explain it logically: "Unfortunately, I understand why they did this, because many athletes have been outed, including in countries where being an LGBTQ+ person is illegal or taboo," wrote one internet user. Some people joke that due to the Grindr blockade, Tom Daley, a British diver and gay man who has been married for several years, will not be able to enjoy his stay in Paris.
