34-year-old Kelly featured in an episode of "Freaky Eaters", showcasing her obsession with consuming cheese and potatoes. For over 30 years, these two items were the exclusive components of her diet, demonstrating the severity of her unhealthy eating habits.

"Freaky Eaters" is an American adaptation of a similar BBC series, aired on the TLC channel. It airs narratives of individuals grappling with disordered eating patterns. In less than a year, two seasons were broadcast. The 8th episode of the second series revolved around Kate, a 34-year-old woman who compulsively consumed cheese-coated potatoes.

30 Year Long Cheese and Potato Addiction with No Room for Other Foods

For Kelly, the issue was so extreme that the sight or smell of different food items caused involuntary vomiting. She sought help from the program following severe health complications resulting from her unhealthy diet.

According to Kelly, potatoes with cheese made up for her every breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No other food was included in her routine meals, a pattern she continued for almost 30 years. Kelly confessed on screen that she hadn't diversified her diet since she was four years old.

Consuming roughly 8,000 calories and almost 180 grams (6.3 ounces) of fat each day, Kate usually preferred eating by herself. She felt most comfortable away from scrutinizing eyes criticizing her intake. Concerned by her extreme revulsion for all other foods, her husband Patrick chose not to dine alongside her. Kelly couldn't tolerate being around her husband if he was cooking or eating anything besides potatoes and cheese.

154 pounds overweight and terrible health condition

Kelly particularly despised vegetables. The television program captured her emotional breakdown when trying to consume a small portion of Brussels sprout, which instantly caused her to vomit. Owing to such unhealthy eating practices, Kelly gained nearly 154 pounds over a decade. The cravings for potatoes and cheese alone not only distorted her appearance but also significantly deteriorated her health.

As a child, Kelly ate a balanced diet. But her food habits took a turn after tasting cheese fries at a local fast food joint. From her recollection of the program, she fell for this particular dish immediately, eventually developing an aversion to any other food. Even a serving of ham or eggs during her teenage years would cause her to vomit.

Joining the program in hopes of overcoming her compulsive eating habits and improving her overall health, Kelly started exploring different tastes and textures of various foods under expert supervision. Psychotherapist Mike Dow and nutrition expert J.J. Virgin were there to guide Kelly through this challenging journey.

The episode featuring Kelly aired in June 2011.
