North Korea's nuclear ambitions soar amid war readiness push
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has called on his military to develop nuclear forces "without limits" and complete preparations for war. This statement, one of several recent months, was reported by the state-run KCNA agency in Pyongyang. Regime media also emphasizes that the leader blames his adversaries.
The North Korean dictator's appeals were made during the 4th Conference of Battalion Commanders and Political Instructors of the Korean People's Army, organized for the first time in 10 years and highlighted by South Korean media outlet Yonhap.
Kim Jong Un urged army representatives to focus on completing war preparations, stressing that the main challenge is strengthening the country's nuclear forces. He stated that North Korea's nuclear potential must act as a deterrent and enable a preemptive strike in case of a threat.

The leader of North Korea also criticized the United States and South Korea for forming a "nuclear alliance" and initiating an "Asian version of NATO." According to Pyongyang, this occurs through strengthened trilateral military cooperation with Seoul and Tokyo.

North Korea has ratified a groundbreaking defense pact with Russia. As part of this strengthened security cooperation, Pyongyang is sending thousands of soldiers to support Russia in the fight against Ukraine.
