Noah Wyle, known for his role as Dr. Carter in "ER," will again play a doctor. The actor will take on one of the leading roles in the production "The Pitt," which will debut on the Max platform (formerly HBO Max) next year.

The streaming service Max recently shared a preview of its upcoming productions. In addition to continuing hits with new seasons of "The Last of Us," "The White Lotus," and "And Just Like That," the platform is also preparing new releases. Among them, we will see productions related to the world of DC Comics ("The Penguin," "Creature Commandos"), "Dune" ("Dune: The Sisterhood"), as well as the medical drama "The Pitt."

The "ER" star in a new medical drama

Noah Wyle, who years ago starred in the legendary series "ER," will play one of the leading roles in the new project "The Pitt." This series is a realistic portrayal of contemporary issues faced by medical workers in America today. The main characters will be frontline workers in a modern hospital in Pittsburgh.

Wyle will take on the role of the unwavering doctor Michael Robinavitch, also known as Dr. Robby. Interestingly, the actor is not the only one associated with "ER" collaborating on "The Pitt." The co-creators of the cult series, John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill, will be the main producers of the new project, with the latter serving as showrunner. Wyle has also become an executive producer of the series.

Before the start of production, they even shared an official statement thanking the leadership of Max and Warner for allowing them to return to telling stories about medical workers. According to Wells, Wyle, and Gemmill, the work has changed so much over the past 15 years that the topic deserved a refresh and realistic portrayal of their daily lives.

The project is set to debut on the Max service in 2025. It will be interesting to see if it achieves a fraction of the success of its spiritual predecessor.
