Nikki Haley flips script, now backs Trump for 2024 run

Nikki Haley participated in the Republican primaries, not sparing sharp criticism for Donald Trump. In one of her January interviews, she assessed the former president's chances against Kamala Harris. "Mark my words," Haley said then.

During the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee, the former rival of Donald Trump assured that the former president has her "full support." She even stated that his election is a guarantee of safety for America. For many, Haley's words are quite surprising, especially compared to her earlier statements.

After Joe Biden withdrew from seeking re-election, passing his support to Kamala Harris, internet users recalled an interview from January of this year where Nikki Haley assessed Trump's chances in a potential match-up against Vice President Harris. The post appeared on the profile of Republican Voters Against Trump on the platform X.

If Donald Trump becomes the Republican candidate, we will have President Kamala Harris. Mark my words. He cannot win the general election... He cannot gain independence. He cannot convince suburban women — said Haley in the mentioned interview.

Many comments appeared under the post. Some internet users share Nikki Haley's predictions. "I agree with her. I just don't understand why she encourages her supporters to vote for him [Trump - editor's note]" - reads one of the comments. There were also those who considered Haley's quoted statement as part of the fight to win the primaries. "You know that people are willing to say a lot during the primaries. Right?" - wrote one of the commenters.

Kamala Harris closer to nomination

It appears that Kamala Harris has the Democratic nomination in hand. According to PAP, she has the support of at least 2,579 delegates. To secure the nomination, she needs 1,976 votes. The official Democratic candidate will be announced by August 7.

Harris can count on the support of many top Democrats. "I am fully convinced that (Kamala Harris) will lead us to victory in November" - wrote Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
