Night of tension: Russian missile strikes rattle Ukraine, leaving Poland on high alert

The Russians carried out a night attack on Ukraine. Targets were also located near the Polish border. "It was a very busy night for the entire air defence system in Poland," reported the Operational Command of the Armed Forces early Saturday morning.

The purchase of aerial tankers would open up new possibilities for Polish F-16s.

"We inform you that due to the reduced level of threat from Russian missile strikes on areas bordering our territory, the operation of Polish and allied air forces in Polish airspace has ended, and the activated forces and resources have returned to standard operational activities," the Operational Command reported just before 12:00 AM on Saturday.

According to information from Ukraine, attack targets were located in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, and Khmelnytsky regions, as well as in Kyiv itself.

A very busy night

The military made it clear that the massive attack on Ukraine resulted in a "very busy night for the entire air defense system in Poland."

"It was a very busy night for the entire air defence system in Poland, as the massive missile attack of the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation covered the entire territory of Ukraine, including the regions bordering Poland," the Operational Command reported.

"The Polish Armed Forces continuously monitor the situation on the territory of Ukraine and remain in constant readiness to ensure the security of Polish airspace," it added.
