In an interview for the British "GQ Men of the Year," Nicole Kidman discussed the iconic 2001 photo of her with raised arms and a wide smile. It was believed to depict her reaction to her divorce from Tom Cruise. "That's not true. It was from a film. It wasn't real life. I know that photo!" she clarified.

With that, the actress dispelled the long-standing myth that the photograph was taken post-divorce from the star. Although Nicole did not specify which movie the picture originated from, her explanation puts an end to the speculation.

The photo, where Kidman is dressed in a patterned blouse, green pants, and sneakers, became an internet meme—a symbol of triumph and freedom. It recently resurfaced when Jenna Dewan shared it on Instagram after her own divorce. To Nicole Kidman, the meme is one of many examples of how people construct narratives around her life, and she approaches this with a sense of humor.

Nicole's private life

Nicole and Tom Cruise were married from 1990 to 2001 and adopted two children: Isabella (31 years old) and Connor (29 years old). After the divorce, Kidman became involved with country musician Keith Urban. The couple married in 2006 and have two daughters: Sunday (16 years old) and Faith (13 years old).

In a recent interview, the actress also shared reflections on family life. "It's a wake up at 3am crying and gasping kind of thing. If you’re in it and not numbing yourself to it. And I’m in it. Fully in it," she confessed.

Kidman also mentioned another viral moment: the way she clapped at the 2017 Oscars. "Cause I had a massive heavy borrowed ring on and it was really painful, and I was scared of wrecking the jewellery. Ha! There’s always something behind the actual images that go out there, right?"
