Stars who were youth icons just a few years ago are increasingly losing the support of their former fans. Public support for people with controversial views or actions causes the idols of the 2000s generation to be engulfed in criticism. In the era of social media, where every statement spreads rapidly, poor choices can lead to a mass exodus of fans who no longer wish to align with the values of their former idols.

Just one seemingly harmless post was enough to upset fans worldwide. Nick Jonas, the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers, as well as an actor and former Disney Channel icon, took to a platform to express his support for the controversial billionaire. The musician wrote, "Take us to the Year 3000," referencing the Jonas Brothers' song, in response to a post where Musk used a gif of Nick and Kevin Jonas flipping a table. The billionaire commented in this manner regarding reports on Tesla's continued successes.

Nick Jonas's post did not sit well with his fans. Many point out that supporting Elon Musk, who openly backs Donald Trump, contradicts the feminist views of Priyanka Chopra, Nick's wife. Others recall praying in their teenage years for healing for Jonas, who suffers from diabetes. A user named Caroline wrote, "I did not have a crush on Nick Jonas for this to happen, oh my God." All the fans share one sentiment: disappointment with the artist's stance. One internet user sadly summarized the situation, saying that wealthy people don't care about ordinary citizens, including the idealized Nick Jonas.
