The New York Police Department responded to the horrifying incident on Sunday morning, December 3. They indicated the call was from a woman claiming her cousin was attacking their family members in Far Rockaway, Queens.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers noticed a man carrying a suitcase. When questioned, the man retaliated by pulling out a knife and wounding both officers.
"One of the officers received knife injuries to the throat and chest area. The other was struck in the head," detailed Jeffrey Maddrey, Chief of the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Despite the violence, one of the brave officers managed to shoot the assailant, who later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

When additional police reinforcement arrived on the scene, an 11-year-old girl was found injured outside the house. Unfortunately, her injuries were too severe, and she couldn't be saved.
The police officers were initially unable to enter the house due to a fire that had broken out, possibly set by the suspect himself.
Local NY1 TV reported that after the fire was successfully extinguished, firefighters discovered the bodies of further victims: a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man. Additionally, an injured 61-year-old woman was promptly taken to a nearby hospital.
Stab wounds were found on all of the victims. They are believed to be family members of the suspect, whose identities remain undisclosed.
The 38-year-old attacker was known to the police, previously arrested for attempting to strangle relatives in the Bronx.
