The new head of the British Army believes that the United Kingdom must be ready for war. He gives three years to prepare for conflict. Gen. Roland Walker warns not only of Russia but also of China and Iran.

Gen. Sir Roland Walker became the commander-in-chief of the British Army on July 15, 2024. The experienced military officer believes that his main mission is to prepare the British forces for armed conflict.

In General Walker’s opinion, British forces should be ready for war within three years. 2027 will be crucial. Quoted by the BBC, Gen. Roland Walker added that in an "increasingly volatile" world, there are more and more threats."

Central to this was doubling the Army's fighting power by 2027 and tripling it by the end of the decade, stated the head of the British Army.

General Walker also said the UK faced danger from an "axis of upheaval." Which countries is General Walker referring to? The main threat is Russia. According to the British military officer, the Kremlin may seek revenge on the West for supporting Ukraine. It does not matter that the Russians have significantly weakened their potential by waging war against Kyiv.

It doesn’t matter how it ends. I think Russia will emerge from it probably weaker objectively – or absolutely – but still very, very dangerous and wanting some form of retribution for what we have done to help Ukraine, stated Gen. Roland Walker.

Are China and Iran threats to the West?

This is not the only threat, according to the British military officer. The head of the British Armed Forces warns of China's attempts to retake Taiwan and Iran's armament, which will strive to produce its nuclear arsenal.

General Roland Walker states these three countries will pose the greatest threat to Western nations because, in recent years, they have established "mutual transactional relationships," sharing weapons and technology."
