New 'Superman' movie photos ignite fan excitement online
Filming recently began for James Gunn's new movie, "Superman," which will present a fresh take on the iconic superhero's story. The first photos from the production set were released online and were overwhelmingly well-received by fans.
A few days ago, a crew led by James Gunn started filming the upcoming movie "Superman" with David Corenswet in the lead role on the streets of Cleveland. These photos give us a first look at the supporting characters from the Daily Planet newsroom and our initial glimpse of Superman's costume in daylight.
Fans thrilled with the new Superman: "He looks iconic"
Fans reacted enthusiastically to these photos. Interest was so high that the hashtag #Superman trended in the number one spot on Twitter for several hours after the images were released.
Many felt that Corenswet's costume evokes older, more traditional versions of the hero, particularly Christopher Reeve's portrayal. Highlights include the distinctive shorts and the gold emblem on the superhero's red cape.
"This suit is amazing," fans gushed.
"That's literally him," "Iconic," and "That's Superman!" are just a few of the many comments that appeared on social media, praising Corenswet in the classic blue and red suit.
The photos of Superman's human alter ego, Clark Kent, were received less enthusiastically. Some pointed out the unusual hairstyle, while others felt it was fitting, as the two personas are supposed to look markedly different:
"No way anyone thinks this guy is Superman. It's a perfect look."
In addition to Corenswet, the film "Superman" will also feature Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Nicholas Hoult, who will play Superman's legendary antagonist, Lex Luthor.
The director and screenwriter of the project is James Gunn, known for the "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy. He will tell the story of a fledgling Man of Tomorrow, who is just beginning to help the residents of Metropolis. The premiere of "Superman" is planned for July 2025.
