In Goryachy Klyuch, Krasnodar Krai, a statue honoring Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the Wagner Group, now graces the city. The Telegram channel "Wagner PMC. Summary " shared the monument's images and" is recognized as the Wagner Group's official communication channel.

The monument pays tribute not only to Prigozhin but also to Dmitry Utkin, a commanding figure in the outfit, who lends his call sign "Wagner" to the name of this private military company.

Despite the channel not specifying the monument's exact location, the shared photos make it clear that it is situated in front of a chapel. This chapel, established in 2018, serves as a memorial to Russian volunteers from the Wagner Group who were killed in action in Syria. According to a 2020 BBC report, the chapel is near the Molokino training ground in Krasnodar Krai.

In early 2023, Yevgeny Prigozhin visited the chapel himself. Reports from one of the Telegram channels at the time mentioned that the Wagner Group leader also paid respects at a cemetery in Bakinskaya, a nearby village where Russian mercenaries are interred. The channel also posted a video of this visit.

Tragically, both leaders of the Wagner Group perished in an airplane crash on August 23 of the previous year. Their private Embraer jet, belonging to Prigozhin, met with a catastrophic accident near Tver. En route from Moscow to Petersburg, the aircraft carried 10 individuals, including the mercenary group's top executives.

This crash followed two months after a coup attempt led by Prigozhin. The Wagner group had seized control of the Russian military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don and began advancing towards Moscow. Yet, by the next day, Prigozhin called for a retreat, moving the mercenaries back to their field camps to "avoid bloodshed," a decision influenced by an agreement with Alexander Lukashenko.
In late 2023, "The Wall Street Journal" unveiled an investigation suggesting that the attack on Yevgeny Prigozhin was orchestrated by Nikolai Patrushev, a close ally of Vladimir Putin.
