New Hampshire snowboarder narrowly escapes avalanche
A terrifying video from New Hampshire has appeared on social media. It shows a snowboarder escaping from an avalanche. An Instagram post urged winter sports enthusiasts to be cautious.
A snowboarder certainly experienced moments of terror while descending a slope in New Hampshire, located in the northeastern United States. Even though the avalanche chasing him down the mountain wasn't the largest, it was certainly frightening.
The entire situation captured on video
The winter season has already begun in many countries around the world, and fans of winter sports are starting to head to the mountains. However, it is important to remember that partially compacted snow creates conditions favorable for avalanches.
Such an avalanche also occurred in Tuckerman Ravine behind the descending snowboarder. His video was posted on the Instagram page of the Mt. Washington Avalanche Center.
"It’s avalanche season! Even small avalanches can have big consequences, especially in the early season. Exposed rocks, ice, trees, and terrain traps can compound the risk of triggering an avalanche," reads the Instagram post.
A dangerous sport
Fortunately, the avalanche captured on the video moved slowly, and the situation did not have tragic consequences. However, a year ago, there was a much more dangerous situation in the same area. An avalanche swept a skier, who fell about 1,000 feet down the ravine. After a lengthy search effort, the man was found. However, he sustained serious leg injuries.
