Israel has recently employed the Iron Beam, a modern laser air defense system, designed to intercept and destroy incoming Hamas rockets. This conflict in the Middle East also serves as the testing ground for the most recent armored carrier from the IDF, the Eitan.
The development of the Eitan began in 2016, but the transporter was not inducted into service until 2023. There has been significant online activity with pictures showing the Eitan being actively used on the battlefield.
First test for Eitan
The Eitan carrier's first presentation took place in August 2016, as the Defense Express portal highlights. Mass production of the vehicle began six years later, in 2022, and it entered service in 2023. The development of the Eitan took into account combat experiences from Ukraine in order to determine appropriate functionalities for the Israeli transporter.
