Starring Tom Cruise, this spectacular production premiered on the big screen in May 2022. The sequel to the iconic 80s film was expected to be a box-office hit, but its immense popularity came as a surprise. In the USA, it grossed 718.7 million dollars, placing it at the top of the season's biggest box-office hits.

If anyone had bet on "Top Gun" to win, they would've made a fortune. In 2022, "Avatar: The Water Element" was the clear favorite. However, James Cameron's superproduction only grossed 684.1 million dollars in the States.

Globally, "Top Gun: Maverick" grossed nearly 1.5 billion dollars, making it the biggest hit in Tom Cruise's 40-year career, a career filled with numerous box-office successes. Cruise, even before the release of "Top Gun's" second part, held a record with seventeen films featured in the top ten biggest box office hits of the year in the USA.

Until now, "Top Gun: Maverick" was available as part of a subscription on SkyShowtime. It premiered on Netflix on January 1st and has remained the top choice in many countries. It even outperformed two major new releases, Netflix originals "The Snowsibling" and "Crypto Scam".
