The Bombardier CRJ-200 plane crashed on Wednesday morning during takeoff. The Saurya Airlines flight had 19 people on board, including the crew. According to the airport spokesperson, the plane was supposed to fly from the capital to Pokhara in central Nepal.

The airport was closed during the rescue operation. Local media report that the bodies of 18 people, passengers, and crew, have been found. Only the pilot survived and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Terrifying recordings

Videos showing the moment of the disaster have reached social media. One video shows the ascending plane suddenly beginning to fall and crashing to the ground. Clouds of smoke rise over the airport.

In the rescue operation video, it is evident that the plane was almost completely burned.

As Reuters reminded, Nepal has been repeatedly criticized for its lax approach to adhering to aviation safety regulations and rules. In January 2023, 72 people died in a Yeti Airlines plane crash. The pilots were responsible for mistakenly cutting off the power in the plane.
