Vinegar, baking soda, lemon, and toothpaste are all you need to keep your washing machine clean and fresh. However, the method of applying these products is important. Many internet users have liked this trick.

A washing machine is one of those appliances that works almost daily, but we rarely think about its technical condition or hygiene. Unfortunately, a lack of regular maintenance can lead to unpleasant odors, limescale buildup, or mold.

The good news is that we can take care of it easily using the natural products we have in the kitchen.

Despite washing our clothes daily, the washing machine itself also needs cleaning. Detergent residues, limescale from hard water, and clothing deposits can accumulate inside the drum, in the detergent drawer, or on the seals. Over time, this can lead to decreased washing efficiency, unpleasant odors, and even damage to the machine.

Many promote cleaning without chemicals. One trick for a clean washing machine is to use only natural products like vinegar, baking soda, lemon, and toothpaste.

To clean the washing machine:

  • Apply toothpaste to half a lemon and throw it into the washing machine drum.
  • Add a tablespoon of baking soda to the rubber gasket between the washing machine and the door, and pour about 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar over it.
  • Apply another portion of toothpaste to the washing machine door.

Next, set the washing machine to a cycle at 195°F. This cycle will remove limescale deposits and bacteria while refreshing the washing machine's interior.

Products for special tasks

Vinegar is a well-known descaling agent, and baking soda is excellent at neutralizing unpleasant odors and removing deposits. Meanwhile, lemon is a great descaler with a pleasant, fresh scent. If you're worried about lemon pieces remaining in the washing machine, put them in a laundry bag or a sock.

Toothpaste is also significant. Thanks to its abrasive and whitening properties, it effectively removes deposits and mold.
