Cleanliness in the kitchen is the foundation of hygiene, and one of the key elements is the sink—a place where food scraps, dirty dishes, and water flow daily. A dirty sink is an ideal environment for bacteria, which can easily spread throughout the room.

To avoid health problems and enjoy cleanliness, it's worth ensuring regular sink cleaning using natural agents you can find at home. Here is a proven way to make your sink shine, and you will feel satisfied with a job well done.

Baking soda – your ally in fighting dirt

Start by preparing a paste from baking soda, which effectively deals with stubborn, dried-on dirt, and limescale deposits. Baking soda has mildly abrasive properties, making it an ideal cleaning agent and safe for sink surfaces. Mix a few tablespoons of baking soda with a bit of water to form a thick paste.

Another key ingredient is gray soap, known for its cleaning and antibacterial properties. It is easy to use in liquid form, but if you have a bar, you can shred it using a grater. Then, pour boiling water over the shreds and mix until a smooth, thick mass forms. Gray soap dissolves fats excellently, making the dirt disappear in no time.

Instead of soap, you can add a small amount of dishwashing liquid to the baking soda paste. Both of these ingredients effectively dissolve greasy dirt and help remove tough deposits.

Add a few drops of essential oil to your preparation to give it a more pleasant scent. Orange oil not only brings a fresh aroma to the kitchen but also has antibacterial properties. This way, the sink will not only shine but also smell clean.

Oiling - natural preservation

Once the sink is clean, it's time to impregnate it. Oiling is a simple but effective method that makes the sink stay clean longer, and new dirt doesn't settle as quickly. Just apply a small amount of edible oil (it can be canola, sunflower, or flaxseed oil) to a soft cloth, then rub it onto the sink surface. The oil creates a thin protective layer that prevents limescale and dirt from settling, while also giving the sink an elegant shine.
