NATO intercepts Russian spy plane over Baltic Sea

NATO Allied Air Command reported on platform X on Monday that Swedish and German military aircraft intercepted a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance plane (NATO code: Coot-A) over the Baltic Sea on Saturday.

The operation involved a Swedish JAS Gripen aircraft, which took off from a base in its country, and German Eurofighter jets scrambled from Latvia, participating in the mission to patrol the airspace of the Baltic countries.

"The interception, which was coordinated by NATO, demonstrated perfect integration of activities within the Alliance," the statement emphasized.
