According to a statement from the group SiegedSec that appeared on Telegram, a database of hundreds of stolen documents from NATO's internal portal has been released online again. The documents include archives and text files that contain personal data of NATO soldiers and dozens of email addresses and phone numbers.
Meanwhile, the hackers' social media platform X account has been suspended. The same database, which was previously available online last year, has been rereleased. At that time, complete data of a dozen soldiers, including email addresses and phone numbers, were disclosed. Fortunately for the victims, no highly classified documents fell into the hackers' hands or were released online.
Hackers' attacks amid conflicts
Hackers regularly attack military and government infrastructure, aiming for destabilization and the acquisition of critical information. There have been attacks on the co-governing SPD party, government agencies, and defense industry companies in Germany.
Hackers use various techniques, ranging from simple DDoS attacks to complex espionage operations, indicating the evolution of cybercrime. Their actions aim to spy, destabilize governments, and influence political processes through disinformation. The growing number of incidents highlights the importance of cybersecurity in the context of international conflicts.
