The meeting was convened at the request of Ukraine. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov joined representatives of NATO member countries to discuss current needs.
"Ukraine continues to intercept Russian missiles daily, saving countless lives. However, Ukraine's ability to maintain defense requires increased deliveries and greater support," stated Stoltenberg in the statement issued after the Wednesday meeting. "In response to the recent Russian attack, allies have confirmed they will increase their military aid to Ukraine," he noted.
He added that Ukraine still needs equipment and ammunition, which allies must deliver so that it can remain on the battlefield.
The NATO-Ukraine Council was established at the NATO summit in July 2023 and serves as a forum for consultations between NATO and Ukraine.
