Although I enjoy kitchen time and working with various ingredients, until recently, I always had a nagging thought - wishing against a moth attack. On one side, I amassed numerous food items in the kitchen, while on another, I lived in fear of an onslaught by these uninvited guests, who are notoriously hard to eliminate.

Ultimately, it dawned on me that a homemade solution to this predicament must exist. After some online research and consulting with my kitchen guru, Grandma Sophie, I finally found a remedy!

Regular cleanliness is paramount

Starting with the basics, it's clear that to guard against a moth invasion, we should store dry items like grains, sugar, pasta, or rice in sealed containers. Additionally, regularly scrutinizing the containers and routinely cleaning them is essential.

At this juncture, I had a thought. Why not make the best of both worlds - a 2-in-1 solution? While cleaning kitchen cabinets, I could also formulate a DIY repellent that will additionally deter these pests. Shortly, I will divulge my failsafe method.

Creating your own moth deterrent solution

Before we go further, I want to emphasize something. Initially, my mom scoffed at the idea of a homemade remedy for pantry moths. Yet, when she witnessed its efficacy, she started using it too. Just like her, you can use it too since its preparation is incredibly easy.

Interestingly, did you know that pantry moths detest the aroma of cloves? As cloves are a kitchen staple, especially during autumn and winter, you don't even need to run to the store. Simply steep a few cloves in boiling water for about 15 minutes.

After fifteen minutes, pour the mixture into a spray bottle and start cleaning your kitchen cabinets. The cloves' scent, which moths find repulsive, forces them to steer clear of your kitchen.

That's it for today. As you see, it's quite simple to prevent pantry moths from becoming your biggest dread. Say goodbye to them for good!
