On Sunday, the office of Israel's President, Isaac Herzog, announced that a meeting with Musk is scheduled, as reported by the New York Post. It's also claimed by the Israeli media that the tech entrepreneur will have a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. However, confirmation from Musk's office is still pending, as clarified by the New York Post.
The U.S. News & World Report states President Herzog has scheduled an afternoon meeting with Musk where they will be joined by relatives of hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. In addition, they will discuss the problem of online antisemitism. In contrast, the meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to revolve around the security aspects of artificial intelligence.
Avi Scharf, an aviation expert from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, shared on Platform X (formerly known as Twitter) that the aircraft carrying Musk landed in Israel in the morning.
Musk had previously met with the Israeli Prime Minister in California on September 18. During this meeting, Netanyahu urged Musk to find a balance between protecting free speech and combatting hate speech, a concern tied to antisemitic content appearing on Musk's platform, X. Musk assured then that he is against antisemitism and the promotion of hatred on the internet, as stated by the New York Post. There has been a noticeable global increase in both antisemitic and Islamophobic behaviors and sentiments since the war began between Israel and Hamas.
