An employee of one of the Italian offices can speak of incredible luck. A peaceful mushroom picking trip almost ended in tragedy. While the 33-year-old was picking mushrooms in the forest near Lake Garda, he was attacked by a bear. The dangerous incident happened on Saturday, October 19, around 4 PM Eastern Time.

The animal struck the Italian mushroom picker, leaving numerous claw marks on his back and arms. The 33-year-old was completely unprepared for a bear attack and had no time to react.

I didn't think a bear could attack me. When I felt someone hit me from behind, I thought someone was pushing me and wanted to beat me up, said a municipal office employee who was attacked by the wild animal to the Italian media.

The "Alto Adige" service reports that the man's injuries were not serious, and he was frightened. The bear attack victim was able to call for help on his own. Rescuers who arrived at the scene took him to the hospital for routine tests.

Importantly, local authorities state that the attack occurred very close to residential buildings. The bear jumped on the 33-year-old just a few minutes walk from the centers of Marazzone, Cavaione, and Rango.

What will happen to the bear? The aggressive animal will be identified using DNA traces and then killed. Authorities emphasize that individuals with high levels of aggression must be eliminated to secure the local community.
