The first butter mushrooms, porcini mushrooms, and penny buns have already appeared in the forests. They're worth using to prepare simple mushroom dumplings that will give your soup a unique forest flavor and aroma. They can be prepared in a few moments.

This year, the mushroom season started a little earlier, as porcini, butter, and bolete mushrooms appeared in the second half of August. Although the season's peak is still ahead of us, it's worth using them in the kitchen now.

You can add them to scrambled eggs, pickle them, or use them to prepare mushroom dumplings that will diversify your Sunday chicken soup or beet soup. They add a unique aroma and are incredibly simple to prepare. Discover a simple recipe below.

How to make mushroom dumplings?

Chicken soup is the king of Sunday dinners. In some homes, it is eaten at least once a week. It is usually served with noodles, but it tastes best with soft, fluffy dumplings, which our grandmothers once often prepared.

How to make them? It's astonishingly simple. Mix flour, eggs, and a pinch of salt, then pour the prepared mixture into boiling water and cook until they float to the surface. In practice, this takes about five minutes.

This is a basic recipe that can be freely modified. Enriching it with fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary, basil) or mushrooms is worth enriching. These dumplings are perfect for mushroom, chicken, aromatic beet, and even tomato soup. In this simple way, you will elevate their flavor to a whole new level.

Mushroom dumplings — Recipe

How to make mushroom dumplings? You can use both fresh and dried mushrooms. Fresh ones need to be sautéed and then blended into a smooth paste. Dried ones can be ground into a powder in a food processor or coffee grinder. The remnants of the mushroom powder can be used as a seasoning, e.g., for sauces, salads, or sandwiches.

Ingredients:

  • 6 heaping tablespoons of wheat flour,
  • 2 eggs,
  • 1 tablespoon of cream or yogurt,
  • 5 dried mushrooms (or 3 fresh ones),
  • salt,
  • pepper.

Preparation:

  1. Chop the mushrooms into small pieces, put them in the food processor, and grind them into a fine powder.
  2. Get a mixing bowl. Add the mushroom powder, a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper, eggs, cream, and flour. Mix everything thoroughly.
  3. Boil water. When it starts boiling, add the mixture one tablespoon at a time. Cook them for an additional minute after they rise to the surface.
  4. Transfer the ready dumplings to a bowl. Serve with your favorite soup.

Tip:

Are you using fresh mushrooms? Sauté them in a pan with butter. Once softened, blend them into a smooth paste and add them to the prepared mixture.
