A shooting took place in Kansas City on Saturday, killing two people. Although it is not yet known who fired the shot and what his motivation was, the police emphasize that they have witnesses to question.

Shots rang out in front of the entrance of North Kansas City High School, where a basketball game was being played between the school's team and Staley High.

As a result of the shooting, two persons, including one juvenile, were injured and taken to hospital in critical condition. According to CBS News and 41 KSHB, after medical treatment, the conditions of both victims improved, becoming serious and stable, respectively.

During a meeting with the media, Sgt. Christopher Kimmel of North Kansas City police said two Clayton County Sheriff's Office officers providing security at the basketball game were the first to respond. Kimmel also noted that the circumstances and reason for the shooting are not known yet. Still, investigators are investigating the case, and the police have several witnesses whom they will want to interview.

"We want our youth to come and enjoy a basketball game, and now we're talking about lives that are altered for the worse, and I'm sure it's going to be senseless," Kimmel said to the media.
