In his latest video, 25-year-old Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, set the bar higher by breaking his previous record of staying for 50 hours in a coffin buried underground. Notably, he achieved this record on the third day and ambitiously completed a full week buried alive.
"I am going to spend the next seven days buried alive under about 10 US tons of soil. It's the scariest thing I have ever done," declared MrBeast at the beginning of the video.
The video shows MrBeast and his team simulating a funeral scene where he gets buried alive. He enters the oversized coffin dressed in a suit, holding a bouquet, while his burial spot mimics a real tombstone. Inside the coffin, MrBeast had stocked food, water, and special waste containers and had access to oxygen.
The coffin had installed cameras that documented every moment of MrBeast's week-long ordeal. His team could also monitor the live footage continuously. To date, the video has garnered around 60 million views.
The lack of diversions soon bore MrBeast, but that was not his primary challenge. Being constantly enclosed in a coffin underground was a substantial psychological burden. On the fourth day, he broke down due to extreme fatigue and lack of sleep.
"I'll try to act like I'm not depressed," he declared on the fifth day of the challenge.
On the same day, he complained about feeling too weak to prepare food and admitted feeling "terrible". He broke down again for no apparent reason.
"It's been 5 days. 5 days alone in this coffin. My condition is deteriorating quickly. I honestly have no idea how I will survive another two days," he shared in a recorded monologue.
On the sixth day, MrBeast informed his team on the surface that they should start digging him out in 12 hours. Excited about seeing sunlight after so many days, he confessed his fear of being unable to get up after lying down for such a long period
The seventh day witnessed the withdrawal of the thick seal of soil encompassing him, and viewers finally saw him freed from the coffin.
An emotional MrBeast said, "I don't know why, but I started crying again at the sight of the sun after seven days. It's hard to describe."
Concerns over blood clots due to prolonged immobility turned out to be unnecessary. MrBeast emerged healthy, stood on his feet, and thus completed the challenge. Fans showered kudos in the comment section, wholly impressed by his audacious feat.
