On Sunday, July 14, Spanish soccer fans had much to celebrate. Their national team defeated England 2-1 in the Euro 2024 final, winning the tournament held in Germany.
At the European Championship, Alvaro Morata captained La Furia Roja. He scored the first goal for the Spanish national team in this tournament but couldn't add to his tally in subsequent matches.
Quite unexpectedly, after the Euro 2024 final, global media began reporting on Morata's club change. Despite rejecting offers from Saudi Arabia and declaring his intention to stay at Atletico Madrid, he is set to move to Italy’s AC Milan, causing a stir.
Under one of the pictures from the championship celebration, a fan commented that many Atletico flags were in the photo, even though Morata is leaving for Milan. This comment prompted the striker to respond.
"I can't leave now, but after Dortmund, you all wanted to kick me out. I won the European Championship as an Atleti player," the player responded to the comment, which was later deleted by the user. However, screenshots of it made their way online.
It's worth noting that during Euro 2024, Morata spoke critically about the attitude of Spanish fans towards him. He emphasized feeling happier outside his homeland because people respect him more.
