It's undoubtedly true that potatoes are the most common side dish for dinner in Polish cuisine. They pair wonderfully with breaded pork chops, minced meat cutlets, pork in sauce, or roasts with side dishes.
Therefore, it's no wonder that potatoes are prevalent in our kitchens. And hence, today I have a novel approach for serving potatoes for dinner that you've likely never tried.
You can never have too many potato ideas
Before elaborating on the recipe, let me express my own preference. I particularly love potatoes in the form of creamy purée. However, it's important to remember that even the best dish can become mundane if served repeatedly. The same applies to potatoes, hence I suggest not confining yourself to just one recipe.
Instead, be adventurous and seek new ways of preparing potatoes. Of course, serve them boiled occasionally, but also recall that they can be baked or fried. This can drastically change their character and taste!
Our exciting new potato recipe
When it comes to serving potatoes, my mom recently totally enlightened me. She served potatoes in a very unique way at Sunday dinner. I must say, it was an incredible 10 out of 10 dish! It has been a while since I've had potatoes this delicious.
What's my mom's secret? She prepares potatoes with a tasty marinade, which is baked along with some bay leaves. I loved her technique so much that I immediately asked her for the recipe.
Ingredients:
- Several potatoes,
- 1/3 cup of olive oil,
- Bay leaves (one for each potato),
- Ground spices: granulated garlic, granulated onion, dried rosemary, sweet paprika, salt, and pepper.
Method of preparation:
- Begin the recipe by peeling and washing the potatoes thoroughly.
- Then, make a deep cut in the center of each potato.
- Combine and mix together the olive oil, garlic, onion, paprika, pepper, salt, and rosemary in a separate bowl.
- Brush the mixture onto each potato using a basting brush.
- Proceed to insert a bay leaf into each slit made in the potatoes.
- Simply put the potatoes into a preheated oven for 45 minutes. The oven should be set to a temperature of 356 degrees Fahrenheit.
- While the potatoes are baking, prepare the other parts of the meal, and then serve everything together. Enjoy your meal!
