As reported by the NBA, down 53-49 at the break, the Timberwolves took charge in the third quarter, outperforming the Clippers with a 40-19 score. Minnesota kicked off the second half by scoring eight consecutive points, yet it wasn't until halfway through the third quarter that they began to distance themselves. With the score at 64-62 in favor of the Clippers midway through, Minnesota launched a dominating 27-8 run to end the third. Highlighted by a 12-2 surge to conclude the quarter, Towns contributed eight consecutive points, and Edwards added a reverse layup, propelling them to an 89-72 lead as they entered the fourth quarter.
The Timberwolves were efficient, hitting 12 of 19 shots in the quarter. Edwards and Towns each went 6 for 6 from the free-throw line, contributing to the team's perfect 13 of 13 foul shots in the period. On the other side, the Clippers struggled, making just 7 of 20 shots and turning over the ball five times, leading to six points for Minnesota
According to the NBA website, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said after the match, "I didn’t think we brought enough force or physicality to the game in the first half. - I thought we played good basketball but there was a bunch of plays where they just were way more physical than we were (...) All credit to the guys. They recognize that and set the tone at the start of the second half - point out a coach.
The Timberwolves have achieved their 10th victory of the season after being behind at halftime, ranking them second in the NBA for such comebacks.
