Microsoft enhances Windows 11: Smarter start menu updates ahead
Microsoft is working on improving the Start menu. Although these improvements might not be visible at first glance, future changes will significantly enhance the recommendation system. This controversial solution has been a subject of discussion since the early days of Windows 11 on the market.
Windows 11, which recently received the update KB5048753 through the Insider channel, now better suggests websites and applications within the Start menu recommendations, notes the Windows Latest service. It is intended to address the main drawback of the mechanism, which until now has been the debatable effectiveness and logic of selecting recommended applications for use. The goal is for the suggestions to be good enough for users to discover new programs or actually find websites that may be useful to them.
The changes will also affect the Bing search engine, used to display both local and internet results in one place. After the changes, these areas will be separated. Windows Latest indicates that this change will be noticeable (at least initially) only within the European Union because it results from competition regulations. In the US, where no such regulations exist, the search engine will operate "as usual."
In the context of Windows 11, it is also important to know that the TPM 2.0 module remains crucial for system security, even though changes in this area were suggested briefly. Despite previous misleading information about the possibility of installing Windows 11 without this component, its absence may result in a lack of support and updates.
Windows 10 users should consider upgrading, as the system will lose support in October 2025. Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows 11 or purchasing new hardware. Extended support is also available, but in practice, this is more of an option for businesses than for home users.
