Michael Jackson died at the tender age of 50 in his residence in Los Angeles. He achieved fame and recognition at a young age and his status as a megastar was unwavering throughout his life.

His life was a rollercoaster filled with ups and downs, controversies and triumphs. It's hardly surprising then, that Lionsgate seized the opportunity to immortalize Jackson's life in a biographical film. The studio unveiled the first official image related to the movie on Twitter.

A sneak peek at #MichaelMovie. Starring Jaafar Jackson, the film releases in April 2025. The photograph was captured by renowned photographer Kevin Mazur, who had previously documented Michael's final rehearsal and now, was the first to shoot Jaafar as Michael - the post accompanying the photo revealed.

Jaafar is the son of Jermaine Jackson – Michael's elder brother. His resemblance to his late uncle is indeed impressive.

"I am filled with pride and honoured to bring my Uncle Michael's story back to life. To all fans worldwide, see you soon" - he posted on Instagram, sharing an image from the initial film rehearsals.

Hollywood's finest are involved in producing the film. The screenplay for "Michael" is penned by John Logan, known for his work on high-profile hits like The Aviator, Skyfall, and Gladiator. The director's chair is occupied by Antoine Fuqua, the mind behind Training Day, Equalizer, and Tears of the Sun.

The movie features an impressive cast including Jaafar Jackson, Miles Teller (from Whiplash), and Nia Long (of Big Momma's House fame). The US production has high expectations and is projected to be a substantial hit. The premiere has been set for April 8, 2025.
