Michael Gambon is best known for his role as Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter film series. The actor "inherited" the role after Richard Harris passed away in 2002 from cancer.

Gambon began his acting career in the 1960s and was one of the first members of the Royal National Theatre. On the theater stage, he performed in plays such as "Hamlet", "Antony and Cleopatra", and "The Life of Galileo". The Irish-born actor also became famous for his role as the French detective Jules Maigret in the series "Maigret".
