Mark Zuckerberg asserts Quest 3 superiority over Vision Pro
"I've had a chance to try out Apple's Vision Pro. Initially, I thought the Quest would offer greater value for most people, as it's pretty good and seven times cheaper. However, after using the Vision Pro, I don't think the Quest provides better value. I believe that the Quest is a better product," claimed Zuckerberg.
According to Zuckerberg, the Quest 3 surpasses the Vision Pro in most areas where people use mixed reality. He pointed out usage for work, gaming, social meetups, and exercise. In addition, he noted that the Quest 3 is more pleasant to wear due to its lighter weight (1.13lbs compared to the Vision Pro's 1.32-1.43lbs).
Zuckerberg also critiqued the absence of apps like Netflix or YouTube on the Vision Pro, an advantage he believes Meta holds over Apple in the long term. He pointed out that the field of view on the Quest 3 is larger than that of the Vision Pro, and its screen is also brighter and more vivid. He conceded that his competitors' higher resolution and gaze tracking feature were strengths, while revealing that these would also be included in future versions of Meta's Quest.
Early issues with the Apple Vision Pro
The first release of the Apple Vision Pro is intended for a niche market due mostly to its high price, which rises to as much as $3500. Despite this, a few problems have already surfaced. A man who was driving a Tesla was pulled over by police on the highway for operating his car while wearing a Vision Pro.
A video shared by a driver who goes by the pseudonym Dante shows him first driving the car and then parked in a lot. In the backdrop, police car lights can be seen. There is no information on whether a fine resulted from this stop. Nevertheless, the video has sparked a conversation about safety, with many suggesting that laws should be enacted to prohibit the use of such devices while driving.
