Meta's messenger update: HD calls, AI integration, and more
Meta is updating the Messenger app, introducing new features like HD-quality video calls. Artificial intelligence will also play a greater role. Here are the details of the latest update.
Messenger is evolving significantly. The latest update includes several improvements as Meta recognizes the potential of artificial intelligence while enhancing video calls. But that's just the beginning—let's explore everything new in the updated version of Messenger.
Messenger update: what's new?
Messenger users can now enjoy HD video during calls and benefit from a sound isolation feature that reduces background noise, significantly improving overall call quality. These new options can be enabled in call settings. HD calls will be available by default when using Wi-Fi, and this option will be selectable for mobile networks.
There's more. Messenger will now allow you to leave a voice or video message if the recipient is unavailable, acting as a digital voicemail. If you miss a call, press the "Record Message" button to send an audio or video message.
Messenger and artificial intelligence
Additionally, on iOS devices, Messenger will be integrated with Siri. Users can ask the voice assistant to send a message or make a call, streamlining communication as Siri handles the task.
Meta will soon introduce AI-generated backgrounds during video calls. To use them, tap the "Effects" icon on the sidebar during a call and select the "Backgrounds" option.
