Melania Trump's surprising stance on abortion rights revealed

A month before the presidential election in the United States, a biographical book titled "Melania" is set to be released, in which the former First Lady clearly expresses her views on abortion rights. Her opinions are surprising mainly because they are entirely different from those voiced by her husband.

The United States is experiencing a heated pre-election period. On November 5, Americans will head to the polls. The upcoming release of the book Melania, which records the memoirs of Donald Trump's wife, has created additional excitement.

Melania Trump in opposition to her husband: She contradicts his views

Journalists from "The Guardian" obtained a copy of the publication and shared excerpts concerning abortion rights with their readers. They described her statement as "extraordinary." Melania Trump advocates for women to have the ability to decide about their bodies, including the option to terminate a pregnancy.

"It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government," writes the wife of the Republican Party candidate, in the context of a campaign where Donald Trump's stance on women's reproductive rights plays a crucial role.

Melania Trump voiced support for abortion

"Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body? A woman’s fundamental right of individual liberty, to her own life, grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes," she adds.

"Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is the same as denying her control over her own body. I have carried this belief with me throughout my entire adult life," confesses Melania Trump.

In an interview in March 2024, her husband admitted that he supports abortion only in three cases: rape, incest, and threat to the mother's life. According to "The Guardian" journalists, there was also a "drastic deterioration of reproductive rights" during Trump's administration.

In 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court, which includes three justices appointed during Trump's presidency, overturned the 1973 decision in the case of Roe v. Wade.
