"When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realised my life, and Barron's life, were on the brink of devastating change," wrote Donald Trump's wife in a statement.

Melania Trump spoke up only a few hours after the rally incident. On the X social media platform, she posted a two-page statement.

The letter begins with the words, "We have always been a unique union. America, the fabric of our gentle nation is tattered, but our courage and common sense must ascend and bring us back together as one," wrote Melania Trump.

Donald Trump's wife claims that "when she watched the bullet hit her husband, she realised that her life and Barron's life were on the brink of devastating change."

"I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband. To the families of the innocent victims who are now suffering from this heinous act, I humbly offer my sincerest sympathy," she emphasized.

She called the attacker a monster and described Donald Trump as a generous and caring man with whom she had been through the best and worst times.

"We are all human and fundamentally, instinctively, we want to help each other. American politics is just a tool that can uplift our communities. Love, compassion, kindness, and empathy are essential," she wrote.
"This morning, rise above hate, venom, and naive ideas that fuel violence. We all want a world where respect is paramount, family comes first, and love prevails. We must insist that respect be the cornerstone of our relationships. I am thinking of you again, my dear Americans," she concluded.
