Melania Trump focuses on New York life, distances from politics

Is Melania Trump distancing herself from her husband's politics? These rumors can no longer be silenced, especially since the First Lady has no intention of moving permanently into the White House. It's now known where she will be living most of this term.

All CNN sources indicate that Melania Trump will not settle permanently in the White House. During her husband's first term in the presidency, she was also reluctant about the idea. She delayed her move to Washington by several months, explaining that she wanted to wait until her son Barron (then 10 years old) finished the school year.

That's where Melania Trump wants to live

Now 18 years old, Barron is attending university in New York City, where Melania Trump plans to spend a significant portion of her time.

“It was his decision to come here, that he wants to be in New York, study in New York, and live in his home and I respect that. … He’s enjoying his college days. I hope he will have a great experience because his life is very different than any other 18-, 19-year-old child,” she said during an interview on Fox News.

Everything indicates that the First Lady of the USA will primarily commute between New York and Palm Beach, Florida, where she has settled among close friends over the past few years.

Is Melania Trump asserting her independence?

However, she is expected to participate in the most significant events. However, it's worth noting here that Mrs. Trump declined Jill Biden's invitation to the traditional meeting, during which there will be a symbolic transfer of power between their husbands in the Oval Office. The reason for her absence from the meeting is said to be previous commitments related to the promotion of her autobiography, Melania, which shook the American publishing market.

Could the First Lady be trying to distance herself from her husband's politics? After all, she was not very present during Donald Trump's campaign, and in her book, she supports the right to abortion, contrary to the beliefs of the new president. Above all, it seems she wants to be independent.
