From the onset, the marriage between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has been a topic of intense public interest. In May 2018, Prince Charles' younger son and the American actress had a fairy tale wedding. However, the incessant scrutiny and pressures of royalty soon took a toll on them, prompting this couple's decision to withdraw from their royal duties and move to the United States.
The "Megxit" event sparked an even more intense following of the couple's life by royal enthusiasts, especially as rumours of a crisis in their marriage have been circulating. Insiders suggest that the recent loss of a lucrative contract is presently straining their union, even potentially signaling its impending dissolution.
Is the end of Meghan and Harry's marriage nigh? A former Vanity Fair editor has his say
Former Vanity Fair editor, Graydon Carter, has also opined on the couple's future. The Canadian journalist believes that Meghan Markle's marriage to Prince Harry might not endure. He candidly aired his pessimistic views about their marriage's future in a Sunday Times interview.
"I would gauge the duration of the marriage in years, not decades," – Carter told the Sunday Times.
Carter argues that Meghan Markle has already reaped all the benefits she could from her marriage to Prince Harry. The journalist also hinted at a diminishing need for Harry's support, given Meghan's solid footing to independently carry on her Hollywood career.
"I think she's maneuvered around poor Harry to gain what she wanted: fame, money, and a title [...] His usefulness to her is dwindling daily," — Carter stated.
Graydon Carter also thinks it unlikely that Meghan Markle will ever return to television acting. But he humorously noted that if a show like "Real Housewives of Montecito" were ever to begin production, Meghan might be the ideal casting choice for a role.
