The issue of alleged bullying by Meghan Markle, accused of mistreating ten employees, once again captures public attention. Confirmations of the American's harassing behavior towards subordinate staff surfaced through her personal secretary, Samantha Cohen.
Since Meghan Markle joined the Windsor family, her journey has been fraught with challenges. Initial murmurs of strained royal relations gained credibility following the Sussexes' explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey and the subsequent release of a revealing autobiography by a notable redhead within the aristocracy. These revelations erased any doubts about existing family discord.
Gossip regarding Meghan's rather unapproachable nature has been whispered about since the inception of her media career. The former Duchess reportedly intimidated her staff, inciting fear and later described as demanding and severe. Some purported victims revealed Meghan's tendency to humiliate and frequently push her subordinates to tears. Faced with relentless pressure and erratic demands, several individuals resigned from Kensington Palace, levying accusations of bullying and "emotional cruelty" against Harry's wife.
Despite royal representatives' 2021 assurance of investigating and taking the allegations seriously, the matter remains unresolved, with Meghan yet to be held accountable. One of the complainants has decided to take proactive steps, based on an interview with the Australian publication "Herald Sun."
Samantha Cohen, interviewed as part of the bullying inquiry, verified her contribution to the "Herald Sun." As a trusted advisor to Queen Elizabeth for 20 years, Cohen was assigned to orient the Americans on royal etiquette and diplomatic protocols.
Speaking to the "Herald Sun", the Australian disclosed how her intended short-term assistance for the Sussexes was extended due to the palace's inability to secure her replacement. She noted that Meghan's aggressive behavior towards staff was widely known within royal circles.
"I was only supposed to stay for six months but stayed for 18," she shared. "we couldn’t find a replacement for me and when we did we took them on tour to Africa with Harry and Meghan."
Cohen resigned in October 2019 to join Cool Earth, a charity dedicated to reducing carbon emissions. Royal correspondent Valentine Low covered Markle's personal secretary's departure on the "Palace Confidential" podcast, noting Cohen's claims of being yelled at by Meghan and how dealing with them felt akin to managing teenagers.
Unsurprisingly, Markle robustly dismissed all bullying claims, with her legal team asserting that the implication that Samantha Cohen was dismissed or left because of Meghan being 'difficult' (a term reiterated six times in this article) is untrue and damaging.
