Meghan Markle bullying claims resurfaced by ex‑royal aide
Jason Knauf, a former British royal advisor, publicly addressed the bullying allegations directed at Meghan Markle. In a new interview with "60 Minutes Australia," he reiterated the accusations made against the Duchess in internal correspondence in 2018.
Knauf, who previously worked with Markle, Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton as a communications secretary, stated that he would act the same way again. He considered—and still considers—it his duty to disclose the irregularities occurring in the palace.
Four years ago, he told "The Times" that Meghan Markle regularly made life difficult for the palace staff shortly after marrying Prince Harry. The Sussexes' secretary filed an official complaint about the Duchess's behavior with the palace's HR department.
Was Meghan Markle harassing the palace staff? Royal secretary confirms
In email correspondence, he accused Meghan of intimidating two assistants "and firing them." He wrote that the Duchess gives the impression that she always needs to "keep an eye on someone," bullies chosen victims, and attempts to undermine their confidence. However, his reports were ignored by the palace.
However, the email content leaked to the media in 2021. At that time, Meghan denied everything. She claimed that the allegations were lies with only one goal—to ruin her reputation.
Now, four years after this palace scandal, Jason Knauf stated that he "doesn't regret anything." He acknowledged in the "60 Minutes Australia" interview that while it was undoubtedly a challenge, it was a responsibility he had willingly accepted as part of his job.
The royal advisor stated that one cannot separate pleasant things from unpleasant ones at work. "So, I wouldn't change anything," he declared. He confirmed that initially working with the royal family went very well. Jason was convinced that there were "great times," and the Sussexes' wedding in Windsor in 2018 was a "magical experience" for him.
He reflected on the many wonderful moments they shared, describing their wedding as an incredible and magical experience. He expressed his best wishes for their beautiful family and noted that serving the Duke and Duchess had been a lifelong honor.
