Meghan Markle and Harry deal with fallout from a scandal, excluded from a significant event

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry find themselves ostracized from a family event at the British court once again. The godfather of their child, Archie, did not invite them to his wedding. Why? A resurgence of drama surrounding the Sussexes brings the issue of racism back into focus.

While Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have resided away from the British court for several years, their strained relationships with royal family members continue to fuel not just tabloid stories, but also multiple books. The latest contribution from Omid Scobie, dealing primarily with the issue of alleged racism among the royals, is currently stirring up significant controversy.

A new episode in the royal racism scandal

To date, neither Harry nor Meghan have publicly addressed the claims shared in their friend Scobie's book. The expectation for them to take a stand, however, is rapidly growing. The scandal seems considerable. It is reported that William "intends to act" after his wife, Kate, was named alongside King Charles on a list of royal family members alleged to have expressed "concern" about Archie's skin color.

William is set to "consult" with the King next week. A palace insider told the Daily Mail "all options are still under consideration".

In the meantime, sources close to the Sussexes are attempting to distance the couple from the contentious book. They assert that Meghan never intended for the king or the Duchess of Wales to be publicly identified. They also say that none of her confidants provided Scobie with a list of alleged British court racists.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry once more excluded from a friend's wedding guest list

The Sussexes are already dealing with the first consequences of their silence. Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, chose not to invite Harry and Meghan to his wedding, citing a need to avoid "drama". Despite being one of Prince Harry’s closest friends and godfather to his son, this omission is both sensitive and hurtful.

Unofficial reports suggest the Duke was initially eager to invite the Sussex family before withdrawing his invitation. Given his desire not to have his wedding overshadowed by royal conflict, this decision isn't surprising.

On the guest list are Prince William, Kate, and the king and queen. There are even rumors that William is being considered for the role of best man. Interestingly enough, Hugh is also the godfather to Prince George, who is now 10 years old.
