Many of the reports provided by Russian media or government officials are part of propaganda. These reports are elements of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.

Explosion in Moscow

General Igor Kirillov, chief of the Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defense Forces (NBC), died Tuesday morning when a remotely detonated device hidden in a scooter exploded in front of a residential building.

A Ukrainian source confirmed to the BBC that Ukrainian security services organized the assassination. However, Kyiv has not officially claimed responsibility for the attack.

Reactions in Russia

The case of the general's assassination was covered by "The Times", which, in an editorial, described it as a "justifiable act of defense of a threatened nation."

"All officials of NATO countries involved in decisions about military assistance to Ukraine and those participating in hybrid or conventional warfare against Russia are now considered legitimate military targets for the Russian state and all Russian patriots," Medvedev stated in his social media post.

General Kirillov

Igor Kirillov was born in 1970 in Kostroma. He graduated from the Higher Command School of Chemical Defense in Kostroma and the Academy of Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Defense. Since 1991, he served as a platoon commander in the Western Group of Forces in Germany and became the head of the Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces of the Russian Federation in 2017.
