Many of the reports provided by Russian state media and Kremlin officials are likely not true. Such reports may be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.
A few days ago, it was announced that former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte would become the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance. This is not the only change in significant positions in international organizations. EU leaders also agreed that Ursula von der Leyen would remain at the head of the European Commission, and former Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas would become the head of EU diplomacy.
Dmitry Medvedev, former President of Russia and current Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, commented on these elections on Telegram. He called them a "wonderful trio."
Describing Rutte, Medvedev called him an "exceptional guy." "In a relatively short time, this moderate figure, whom I once met at summits, has transformed into a staunch Russophobe and staunch Atlantist. We won't guess which substances from Amsterdam cafés caused such a drastic change in his mood," he wrote.
He stated that Rutte "fiercely hates" Russia, is a "supporter of tightening sanctions," and expects him to follow the path of the "classics of paranoid Atlantism."
Medvedev mocks von der Leyen and Kallas
Medvedev called Ursula von der Leyen a "Belgian-German political grandma." He stated that she is "masochistically devoted to her foreign masters" and ready for "manifestations of love for the gerontological playboys from Washington." "She constantly spits malicious nonsense about Russia, choosing no expression," he wrote.
Criticizing Kaja Kallas, Medvedev mocked her as a "prime minister of a superpower, the mighty Estonia." He stated that she combines the most essential features of a European politician: "nuclear Russophobia and an endless thirst for profit."
"I wish all the best to the newly appointed. In diplomatic translation, that is maximum failure and horrendous problems in exercising their high powers! We will help you in every possible way!" he wrote.
