Vladimir Putin has been the president of Russia since 2012. He previously held this position from 1999-2008, when he replaced Boris Yeltsin. In the relatively short 32-year history of the Russian Federation, Putin has been president for a total of around 19 years.

The next presidential elections in Russia are set to be held in March 2024. As per the unofficial reports of "Kommersant", the largest independent daily in Russia, Putin has not yet had the final say and intends to run in the upcoming elections in Russia.

If Putin won the election, which is highly likely, it would mean that he would remain in the highest office until 2030.

I know nothing about an official presidential campaign announcement in November - said spokesman Dmitrin Pieskov.

However, the "Kommersant" newspaper claims otherwise. Putin is said to announce his decision during the international "Russia" forum, which will take place in November in Moscow. That's when his official election campaign would presumably begin.

Important decision by Putin. It concerns his army

Before Vladimir Putin announced his candidacy in the presidential elections, a few days ago he signed a decree on conscription for mandatory military service. The document states that this fall, 130,000 people will be called up for military service. The penalty fine for not responding to the draft board summons was also increased.

In the spring draft of 2023, 147 thousand people were called up for military service. However, last year's autumn draft began a month later. The delay occurred due to mobilization, which took place from September 21 to October 31. In 2022, as many as 120 thousand people were drafted into the armed forces.
