An American Airlines Boeing 777 was forced to make an emergency landing at LAX on Wednesday due to a suspected mechanical issue.
The pilot reported a possible mechanical issue prior to landing. Despite early reports that the aircraft had suffered a blown tire, an American Airlines spokesperson said it remains unclear what the issue was.
'Mechanical problem' caused one of its tyres to 'blow,' prompting pilots to declare an emergency. However, American Airlines officials rejected such claims, according to CBS News.
The aircraft, a 23-year-old Boeing 777, landed at LAX without any incident, American Airlines told Reuters.
This event occurred shortly after a similar incident where a Boeing 777 operated by United Airlines, departing from San Francisco International Airport, was forced to land at LAX due to a lost tyre. Additionally, on Friday evening, CBS News reported that another departure from SFO required an emergency landing at LAX due to issues with the aircraft's hydraulic system.
This is another situation involving a Boeing-manufactured machine in recent months. The FAA has issued a report on the US company's oversights and manufacturing errors.
