Matthew Perry's former home narrowly escapes LA wildfire
The former residence of Matthew Perry in Pacific Palisades miraculously survived the devastating fires that are ravaging Los Angeles. It was here more than a year ago that the actor passed away. The latest photos show just how close it came to disaster.
The actor's house, located in an exclusive coastal neighborhood west of Los Angeles, survived despite a dangerous fire in Pacific Palisades that consumed over 22,000 acres of land. The new owner of the property, developer, and film producer Anita Verma-Lallian, confirmed on Instagram that the estate is safe. This is all thanks to the care of the residents of nearby properties, who extinguished small fires that were beginning to spread at the back of the villa.
"It’s hard to put into words how devastated we feel. It’s been such a tough week, but we are incredibly thankful to have learned that our house is okay," wrote Verma-Lallian. She thanked the brave firefighters, wonderful neighbors, and the entire Palisades community for their help, strength, and support during this harrowing time.
Verma-Lallian purchased Perry's estate in October of the previous year for 8.5 million dollars.
"Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragedy, and we hope we can come together to heal, protect, and rebuild what’s been lost. The Palisades will always hold a special place in our hearts," she added.
Matthew Perry's home
Due to the tragic events that took place there, the actor's home attracted significant interest. Matthew Perry, 54, was found dead in his jacuzzi on October 28, 2023. An autopsy revealed that he died as a result of "acute ketamine action" after taking the drug in uncontrolled doses.
The last post by the "Friends" star was a photo someone took of him relaxing in the pool in the middle of the night. After his death, an investigation was launched, revealing the existence of a "wide underground criminal network" exploiting Perry when he fell back into addiction in the fall of 2023, prosecutor Martin Estrada stated during a press conference. In this case, five people have been arrested and charged, including two doctors, a supplier, and an acquaintance of the actor.
In a prior Instagram update following the purchase of Perry's house, Verma-Lallian expressed a commitment to preserving the legacy of the "Friends" actor. She shared that they aimed to celebrate the positive aspects of his life, including his remarkable talent and the happiness he brought to countless individuals. She clarified that their decision to buy the house was based solely on their admiration for the property itself. Additionally, she mentioned plans to retain certain design features, specifically noting that the Batman logo in the pool would remain.
